History of the school 

Jarrey gewog is a very beautiful and peaceful place irrespective of people with different economic back ground. The gewog has about 200 households with just one primary school (Zangkhar Primary School) to get their children educated till 1991. During that period of time, parents of four villages (Yumche, Kharchung, Ladrong and Nganey) faced lots of difficulties in educating their children because of the distance between school and their villages.

However, in the beginning of the year 1991, the Dzonkhag Administration declared for a construction of a new school at Ladrong, originally the place was known as Lhadrong (village of Lha Tshangpa). On 10^th March 1991, Ladrong Primary School was inaugurated in temporary classrooms by the head of the school and some local leaders near Ladrong Lhakhang (The Lhakhang founded by Terton Drimed Lingpa). Being located near a Lhakhang, the school faced difficulties in managing the school due to intervention of local animals and people. As a result, the school was shifted to a new location called Bumathi. The structures were built mostly from locally available materials like bamboos and wood. However, being located on a sloppy area, children had tough time climbing and walking to the school besides lack of proper play ground and water supply. Thus, in 1994, the Gewog in consultation with the Dzongkhag Administration came up with the solution to relocate the school to a place called Gorgan (current location of Ladrong Primary School), which is about twenty minutes walk from the gewog centre. Although the school is a day school, students are provided with breakfast and lunch through WFP support.
