International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women

Lhuentse Dzongkhag observes International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women 2020 in the Dzongkhag Conference Hall graced by Honorable Dasho Dzongda.

The UN General Assembly has designated this particular day 25 November as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. The main motive behind observing this day is to raise awareness of the fact that women around the world are subjected to rape, domestic violence and other forms of violence be it at home or work space.

The event started by Listening to Her Majesty Gyalyum Sangay Choden Wangchuck's  address to the nation through a virtual broadcast at 10:30AM. The pledge to "support elimination of domestic violence against women was signed by all the participants".

Dzongkhag Sector Heads and staff, Regional Heads and LG members attended the small even and signed the pledge to provide support in eliminating any forms of violence against women. The event was collaboratively organized by Dzongkhag Health Sector(MSTF and CBSS), RENEW, NCWC and DAISAN volunteers of Lhuentse Dzongkhag.
